What is an 0870 Number?

An 0870 is a “non geographic” number that national companies use to provide a standard “national rate” tariff to all their customers, regardless of where the customer is in the country. Everyone calling the number will be charged at the same “national” rate.
Why use an 0870 number?

The main reason that organisations use an 0870 number will be to get a “national presence” in the marketplace. For most businesses, an 0870 number can actually increase sales because their customers prefer to deal with a company with a national presence over a one branch local setup.

For new businesses that do not have a secure base (and therefore a secure landline telephone number), a non geographic 0870 number is the best option. You can use this number on all your marketing and advertising so if your landline number changes, you can simply have the same 0870 redirected to the new landline number.

For all the calls that are placed through your 0870 number, you will get a revenue share, normally around 1p per minute, but depending on the total amount of minutes of calls going through the number. This means that you get money to be called.
